  • What does ETI do?
    • Electrical Test Instruments, LLC DBA ETI Precision (ETI) is a leader in the calibration and repair of test and measurement equipment, specializing in high-current and high-voltage instruments. We also manufacture industry-leading high-current circuit breaker testers and AC/DC variable power supplies that are deployed at testing companies and within critical environments worldwide.
    • We provide nationwide onsite service, minimizing the downtime of your critical instruments by offering calibration services at your facility. ETI is also able to repair and retrofit a wide variety of test and measurement instruments. Our emergency onsite repair services are available for your urgent equipment issues.
  • What methods of payment do you accept?
    • ETI accepts checks, electronic wires, and all major credit cards. Credit card payments are subject to a 2% surcharge.
  • Do I need to send you a Purchase Order to have my order processed?
    • We do not require a Purchase Order (PO) to process equipment for calibration or repair sent to our laboratory. We will require a PO before shipping the units back to your facility. We also require a PO to process all product orders.
  • Who do I contact for technical help?

  • Who do I contact to obtain credit and trade references for ETI?
  • Do you accept international orders for products and services?
    • Our onsite calibration services are available throughout the United States and Canada. ETI’s mail-in calibration and repair services, completed at our facility in Maryland, and products are available to customers worldwide.

Calibration Questions:

  • Why is calibration of my test equipment important?
    • An annual calibration program ensures the accuracy and precision of your critical test and measurement equipment. Calibration minimizes measurement errors, improves the longevity and reliability of your instrumentation, and avoids errors that can put people and equipment at risk. Professional calibration services help you have confidence in your measurements.
  • What quality management standards does ETI comply with?
    • ETI is an ISO 9001:2015-certified, ISO/IEC 17025:2017-accredited, and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1-1994-accredited calibration laboratory. Our certificates and scopes of accreditation are available on our website at etiprecision.com. We offer MIL-STD-45562A-compliant calibrations and calibrations in accordance with 10 CFR Part 21 and 10 CR Part 50 Appendix B upon request.
  • Will you come to my facility to perform calibrations onsite?
    • Nationwide onsite service is our focus. We come to you, minimizing the downtime of your critical instruments by offering calibration services at your facility. ETI is also able to repair and retrofit a wide variety of test and measurement instruments. Our emergency onsite repair services are available for your urgent equipment issues.
  • When will I receive my Certificates of Calibration if I choose onsite service?
    • We take quality very seriously at ETI. Once your onsite calibration service is complete, the calibration data is reviewed by our quality management personnel at our laboratory in Maryland. The standards used, data recorded, and other calibration information is verified prior to issuing Certificates of Calibration. Your Certificates will be sent with the invoice for the service typically within one calendar week of your service’s completion.
  • I’m not in Maryland. Will you still come to my facility for onsite calibration services?
    • ETI performs onsite calibration services in all 50 states and Canada.
  • Is there a minimum number of instruments required to schedule an onsite calibration?
    • No, please contact us to discuss your specific requirements and we will help you determine if onsite or mail-in options are the best for your situation.
  • Can I mail my equipment to your facility for calibration?
    • Yes, ETI offers mail-in calibration service at our laboratory in Maryland. Please send your equipment to:

  • What is the typical lead time for calibrations mailed-in to your facility?
    • We pride ourselves on the quick turnaround of most units calibrated in our laboratory in Maryland. Our standard lead times average between five and eight business days. Lead times vary depending on the type of equipment being serviced, so please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
  • Do you offer expedited calibration services?
    • Expedited calibration services typically return units within one to three business days. Please call us to discuss your specific requirements and to obtain pricing.
  • My instrument was found to be defective. What do I do now?
    • At ETI, we do everything in our power to adjust units back within tolerance and manufacturer specifications. If the unit is defective, not operating, or otherwise may not be adjusted through standard accepted calibration procedures, we recommend submitting the unit for repair evaluation. ETI has dedicated repair specialists experienced in a wide variety of test and measurement equipment. If we cannot repair the unit for you, we are happy to coordinate directly with the OEM to ensure the process is easy and efficient from your standpoint.
  • Will ETI provide as-found / as-left data for my instruments?
    • Yes, ETI will provide as-found / as-left data, but you must inform us of this requirement prior to your calibration service. Our standard Certificates of Calibration do not include the test reports with the underlying as-found / as-left data.
  • What types of equipment does ETI calibrate?
    • ETI calibrates a wide variety of electrical, mechanical, torque, pressure, temperature, humidity, and dimensional test and measurement equipment. Please review our ETI Calibration Capabilities Overview document or contact us to discuss your calibration needs with an experienced staff member.
  • Do I get reminders when my equipment is due for calibration?
    • ETI will contact you about 90 days prior to the due dates of your equipment for all onsite calibration services with an updated quote based on the equipment calibrated most recently. To schedule your onsite calibration further in advance, change the calibration intervals of your equipment, or gather information about when your equipment is due for calibration, please contact us.
  • Do I need a Return Authorization number to send my equipment to you for calibration?
    • No, please just send it to:

  • Do I need a Return Authorization number to send my equipment to you for expedited calibration?
  • Yes, please contact us with your request and we will send you an RMA number including shipping information.
  • I lost my calibration certificates and/or data sheets, where can I find them?
    • Please contact us and we will be happy to re-send your certificates and as-found / as-left calibration data (if applicable).

Repair & Retrofit Questions:

  • Do you repair other OEM’s equipment as well as ETI products?
    • Yes, we repair a wide variety of electrical and mechanical test and measurement equipment, regardless of the OEM.
  • Do I need a Return Authorization number to send my equipment to you for calibration?
    • Yes, for best service please contact us with the manufacturer, model number, serial number, and reason for sending it in for repair. The RMA will include shipping information .
  • Can my equipment be repaired onsite at my facility?
    • We have found that it is more cost-effective and efficient for our customers to have us evaluate units for repair and diagnose the issues in our facility, where we have the proper tools, parts, and test kits to fully test items. In some special situation, however, we may be able to perform an onsite repair evaluation. Please contact us to discuss your specific situation and determine which repair option is right for you.
  • Does ETI offer expediate repair services?
    • We do offer expedited repair evaluations.
  • Does ETI warranty its repairs?
    • ETI offers a 24-month warranty on the parts we replace, except in special situations which are communicated to our customers during the estimation process.
  • Does ETI repair Metrel products?
    • Yes, we are the authorized U.S. service center for all Metrel products. Our repair technicians are specially trained and specifically skilled in Metrel repairs.
  • What is a retrofit of high-current circuit breaker tester?
    • ETI has the capability of upgrading a wide variety of analog circuit breaker testers via a complete retrofit with our MAC-21 digital controller. This is a popular option to extend the life of your existing circuit breaker testers and make them more user-friendly.

  • Which circuit breaker tester fits my application?
    • ETI manufactures a full line of high-current circuit breaker testers, ranging from 250A to 60,000A primary injection testers. Please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
  • What are the most common applications for ETI’s products?

    • Yes, we offer a standard two-year warranty on all new products we manufacture.
  • What support can I expect after I buy an ETI product?
